B.B. (week 4)

f you’re reading this & are behind in your blogging from other weeks, go do that first!  Also, don’t forget to participate in the discussion on last week’s questions.

As you prepare to answer your questions, I want to quickly remind you of a few things that we’ve talked about along the way in our blogging journal. Many of you are giving some great thought to your answers, doing your reading, and learning a ton. I want to encourage us all to really take our time and answer the questions thoroughly (that means more than one sentence to an answer :) , and to do all of the reading. This is an awesome opportunity to learn a lot. Also, please use correct grammar, punctuation, etc in your posts.

This week’s reading was on the jazz legend, B.B. King. I’d like you to answer all the questions in your book, but answer 1, 2, and 5 here on the blog. If you have any questions or if you’re having problems getting it to post, just email me. Looking forward to some great thoughts!

    1. I don’t really listen to music. That’s just not my thing. So, no. 2. Yes. Basically, the whole thing. 5. Too many questions are asked here. I’ll split it up: A. It’s the same as the electro shock therapy.
    B. Well, if we value certain things, or if we made a commitment that goes against whatever decision we are making, we would choose differently.
    C. Same as question B. If our passion goes against our decision, we will act differently.

4.I don’t really get the question.
5.If we made a commintment it goes against our decisions and if your passion goes against your decisions then we can do things differently or act in a different way.

3.no not really because B.B had a story for why he was so passionate and it makes sense If that happened to me I would only run inside if my family was in there, the other things I’m passionate about are replaceable like books and music:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D ( was that too many smiley faces

    4. yeah a lot of things i say I regret like today I’m have to get off after this because I said something to my dad I now regret :(

    5.WHAT ????????
When He rolls up His sleeves
He ain’t just puttin’ on the ritz
(our God is an awesome God)
There is thunder in His footsteps
    And lightning in His fist
(our God is an awesome God)
    Well, the Lord wasn’t joking
When He kicked ‘em out of Eden
It wasn’t for no reason that He shed his blood
His return is very close and so you better be believing
that our God is an awesome God

    REFRAIN
Our God(our God) is an awesome God
He reigns(He reigns) from heaven above
With wisdom(with wisdom) pow’r and love
our God is an awesome God

And when the sky was starless in the void of the night
(our God is an awesome God)
He spoke into the darkness and created the light
(our God is an awesome God)
Judgment and wrath he poured out on Sodom
Mercy and grace He gave us at the cross
I hope that we have not too quickly forgotten that
our God is an awesome God

    Refrain x3

Our God is an awesome God
Our God is an awesome God
(Our God is an awesome God)
(Our God is an awesome God)

well for my blog I have to say that those are some crazy stories (espessially the gutiar) but anyway I learned that passions not only are things you enjoy but they will make you risk something for it. Like I wouldn’t risk my life for something easily replaceable or not too close too me but I’m sure I could think of a few things that I would risk to get and I understand what it’s like to take risks so I am able to relate to this better than the last ones. Anyways sorry my blogging was late I forgot (that tends to happen a lot with me)

Hey buddy…how about a little more of what you’re thinking with your answers. Yes/no makes it difficult for us to understand what you’re thinking or to grow from it. So go ahead and share some of your reasons/thoughts. Thanks!

  25. Catherine M. Says:

    1. there is this one one song that has a line in it that goes something like this: “just let me lean back in your arms, and just let go” that song is very special to me because it just makes me feel like I can lean on God, and he will hold me up. I’m still trying to get to know God and understand what he’s saying to me and I love songs and all music, so when I hear a song that hits me like that I want to hold it very close and remember that song because it is really helpful. And Joel, when we worship together on sunday nights I love that because it is alot of fun and I just feel closer to God when I’m worshiping him.

    2. Well it’s a very expresive chapter, while saying that we love God it also says we should hate the people that rise against Him. So what do you do with that? Dosn’t the bible say to love your enemys? And that hating someone is like killing them? I’ve heard some people say that evil people are most of the time so consumed in their own selfishness that they are satans weapons, but on the other hand God says we always have a choice and that he won’t decide for us but he knows what is going to happen so it’s all mind boggling! It seems so much it contradicting itself and I have more questions than answers for this question.

    5. You can commit yourself to something for example this missions trip, and with this commitment, we are reading this book and blogging. For me it isn’t that hard since I love reading and this is a good book but for other people it could be hard to just sit down and read and write but you made the commitment and now you have to stick with it. So again for example you were invited to go on a trip to the bahamas but it’s on the same week as the missions trip (not that that is going to happen anytime soon) you made a commitment and you have to keep it. So know I will stop writing. (for a while)
    : )

  29. Paula G. Says:

Hi everybody. Sorry for getting behind…again”
    1. I really like a song called “shine, Jesus, shine” . You can find it on YouTube if you want to hear it. I like the part where it says Blaze, spirit blaze, set our hearts on fire. It just is a reminder to me about the power of the holyspirit in our hearts, and what it?? He?? Can do thorugh us if we let him or it.
    2. No matter where we go, God is there. That is such good news to me. And I love there verse I am tearfully and wonderfully made. Not tearfully!! Fearfully!! If we were tearfully made, it would mean that God cried as He created us. And he didn’t ! So again, he says I am fearfully and wonderfully made, which means we are God’s awesome creation.
5.Let’s say you were skateboarding with a bunch of older kids. You really wanted them to think you were cool. They ask you to do a trick that you have tried before. You wiped out and broke 3 bones when you tried to do it before. HOPEFULLY, Your previous experience will help you to choose wisely–don’t do that trick! Experience can easily give you caution, since a bad experience can stick with you and remind you that something causesd you pain. Values are trickier, since they are taught, and have to be practiced. But they must be used as decision making tools if we want to become the person we have set out to be. But you have to make a conscious effort to use them; you can’t be an impulsive decision maker. Does that make sense?

I changed computers, so my avatar changed, too! Weird!
