If you’re reading this & you haven’t blogged from the first week (Passions vs. Interests & Amy), go do that first! Also, don’t forget to participate in the discussion on last week’s questions.
For this week, you only had to read one chapter, Quixote. My parents use to have a picture from the Man of La Mancha hanging up in our living room when I was growing up. I really enjoyed the reading this week as it helped me to actually know what the story behind the picture was!
What did you think of the story of Quixote? What was your favorite part? Go ahead and answer each of the 7 questions from the end of the chapter here on the blog…please number them so we can know what you’re talking about in your answers. Thanks!

OK, I have to tell you. I’ve seen part of the movie of Man of La Mancha, the musical made of Q’s story. It was terrible. I had to shut it off. It was just too goofy and 60s-ish. But I love knights and chivalry. (I just wish there was more of God in it) And I also have to tell you, to make sure that you understand completely about Dulcinea-that a prostitute is a woman who has sex with men for money. (sorry, Joel, but you can’t fully understand her redemption and his pure love of her without knowing, and I know these peeps won’t use a dictionary or admit they don’t know what the word means!) Anyway, I like that Q is like Jesus-he’s not afraid to hang out with people with questionable lives.
1. I think fighters just like to hear their own voices, and they usually think they have all the answers. Passion brings action, not talk!
2. Sometimes I respond just to the surface of a person instead of thinking about what drives them and answering the whole person. Here’s a dumb example:
Wife: Does this dress make me look fat?
Husband: You look perfect.
The husband really understands that the wife really just wants her husband’s love and reassurance . Get it?
3. Satan is our real enemy, right? He totally wants to distract us, to make us give up our passion. He has tried to tell me all year that I’m too old to be a good youth leader (and right now I’m paranoid that you will think the same thing! See how he works???)
4. See above.
5. If CHristians are seen as fools, of course they will be mocked and called uncool. The trick is knowing we’ve got a giant cool secret (eternal life and life on earth with Jesus). We just have to live in such a way that all who think us fools can see that there is something different about us, something they just have to know about!.
6. Yes. I need to live my faith better at my job!
7. Well, the more we obey, the closer to him we are, the better we hear him, the easier it is for Him to talk to us, the better to reveal our passion!

Are we on week two or week three? I’m very confused!

1. People who want to get in fights are usually the mean girls or boys at school who just want to get a reaction out of you. I think when people fight because of passion it is probably because they are trying to protect someone they love. I think love drives this because Quixote loved Aldonza and he was protecting her from muleteers.
2. I have. I have gotten in fights with my best friends and it is always over some stupid reason and after the fight i would ask myself,”Why did i fight with her? She is my best friend and I love her.”
3. Satin is our enemy. He is always trying to impact our discovery of God because he is JEALOUS of God and that we follow him and not satin.
4. I dont think they are alike. Jesus wouldn’t fight. He would bring peace instead of running around with a sword saying,” Lets go kill him!” But they are alike because they fought for something they love. Quioxte fought for Aldonza. Jesus fought for us.
5. Yes christians do get called fools. Thats because they dont really understand it. They dont know that we get to go to heaven and live with God.
6. Yes. I would love to have the courage to speak up and talk about my faith. I would love to tell people about God and what he does and the miricales he preforms. Myabe that is one of my weaknesses. I will have to pray to God about giving me the strength to speak up.
7. Read above.

#1 Anger. They could be angry for something that is happening at home or somewhere else. Sometimes you get angry or hurt and you store that hurt inside until nothing can come out of you but hateful things. If there is no one you can turn too to talk to, if you don’t feel confident telling your mom or dad about something, what are you going to do? That can hurt so much. And sometimes you don’t even know what is wrong you just know that something is wrong.
#2 Heres a bad example: Sometimes I lose something and I blame my siblings (or other people, horror) of taking it and other stuff, and then I “get” to apologize. So I’m learning to be sure of my facts before I start accusing someone.
#3 Like you said Paula, satan. satan is our enemy. I have a passion for art but I get this idea in my head that I’m not “good enough” but how will I ever get “good enough” if I don’t do it? It’s hard because I can see what I want to make and I know how but my hand just won’t do it! I gets very frutrating (I spelled that wrong didn’t I?) But I still love making things, painting, sketching, I love doing them all. So I just have to get good enough.
#4 Well Jesus had and still has a passion and so did Quiwhateverhisnamesis, they were motivated to make the world a more “pure” place. (can you tell I like quotation marks? Thats not what they’re called I don’t think
#5 We can’t comprehend God, and God is spiritual, so does that mean we can’t comprehend the Spirit of God?
#6 It’s alot about peer presure, you don’t want to stand out. That is espesialy at school age, nobody says you have to try to be like everybody else but most people try to. It takes alot of courage to just be yourself and you might feel a little wierd but the truth is what we call “normal” is not really normal because we are all our own person unique the way God made us.
#7 To obey him would mean to stop obeying anybody else, so that would mean stop obeying satan. This don’t mean stop obeying your parents since the bible says to obey your parents (most of you probobly already know that) But that means to stop obeying and listening to satan lies. If you read my answer to question 3 you see one of my passions is art, but I fell like I’m not good enough and that is a lie from satan. I had this art teacher that says “there is no wrong/bad art” I think she mentyou can’t do art wrong there is no way you can do art wrong the only bad thing is if you stop doing that art because you don’t think you can do it.
Paula, you are so much fun and it has been alot of fun to get to know you and talk to you. So please don’t feel that you are to old or anything like that. If you do I feel sad

4 they are diffrent because god can o miracles and quixote cant.
May 28, 2011 at 8:43 pm |
1.this is diferent from passion because you can disaggree with someone because you are passionate about it.
2.no
3.The devil is our real enemy. He impacts our discoveries because he can make us do bad things.
4.Yes I think they’re alike, because they both encouraged people to do good deads. They are diferent because Jesus didn’t fight people but Quixote did.
5.no
6.God will help you find your passion when you are listening to him.

7.so it doesn’t make it difficult for God to give you your passion.
June 4, 2011 at 7:22 pm |
This was a… interesting story
1. I don’t think that’s a passion I just think that’s anger
3. our really enemy is the Devil I think I not so sure
4. I think they might be because GOD and Q both don’t judge people on what they do or on how they act but on who they are and how they feel
(a)
June 4, 2011 at 7:26 pm |
Oh I forgot
6. yes but i can’t name them off the top of my head
7.I think it means so you don’t get off track and start being passionate about the wrong things
