George (week 2)

If you’re reading this & you haven’t blogged from the first week (Passions vs. Interests & Amy), go do that first!  Also, don’t forget to participate in the discussion on last week’s questions.

For this week, you only had to read one chapter, George. One of the things that I really love about this book is Zach’s approach. The idea that he’s talking about, that we should each pursue the passions that we have that God has given us, seems like a great idea but can be kind of hard to do sometimes. However, Zach made this book full of all sorts of examples of people who have done exactly that…living out their passions.

After you’re done with your reading for the week, answer the 1st question at the end of the chapter only in your book. Then answer the rest both in your book and on here. Don’t forget to read others’ answers and comment on their ideas, too!

#1 OR 2 IN THE BOOK, YES SOME OF MY FRIENDS

#2 UMMM I DON’T REALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY ARE ASKING SO I’ M JUST GONNA WING-IT!…..I WOULD HAVE THEM READ ABOUT THE HOLY CLUB AND JUST TALK TO THEM ABOUT IT AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY.

#3 AN EXAMINED LIFE IS A LIFE THAT YOU PAY ATTENTION TO AND REALLY PONDER(ONE OF MY FAVORITE WORDS :-) )ABOUT AND IS WATCHED CLOSELY. IT IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT IS GOING ON.

  3. Catherine M. Says:

#2 I don’t really see a lot of my friends doing that. Maybe a few.

    #3 (I forget this question.)

#4 I think am examined life is one that is with other people that aren’t afraid to tell you that you aren’t exactly doing the right thing, it would be a hard life to lead because of those people to but I think that you need other peoples opinion. Example: somtimes you can see somthing only one way and other people can help you to see it another way, say Ester in the bible saw only that she might get banished or worse by going to the king, well Mordici helped her see that the lives of all the Jews were in danger and she would die anyway. If Mordici hadn’t helped her see that what might’ve happened? That is what I want to have a life examined by God and people. Still all people will make mistakes.

  4. Catherine M. Says:

Wow! I wrote ALOT. I didn’t even notice, I geuss I made up for the qustion I forgot huh!

  8. Paula G. Says:

Yes, Catherine, you do like to talk to people (that was a comment from the last post.! (WHERE DO YOU GET THE SMILEYS???)
Camden (alias Jersey), where do you go to school? Do you have friends at church that you could do a holy club with? I dare you!

    2. In a way, flip’d is our Holy Club, right? We may not be intense every week, but we are building a community in which we can trust one another with our burdens and joys, and pray and have Bible study with. So we are committed to a Holy Club—with a waaaaay less corny name! Also, some of you might try (or already do) praying with your families. ANd we could fast together-we could fast Sunday mornings before training!
3.I think I just answered that, read #2 again, please.
    4. When Jesus gets together with his friends for the last time, he models what we now think of as communion. And Paul, talking later about taking communion, says we shouldn’t take communion without first examining our lives. (read that in 1 Cor. 11:23-29, especially v. 28.) So I think, takng this scripture as my example, that an examined life is one in which we are evaluating ourselves to see where we have sinned so that we can stay right with God, and so that we can practice being a better Christian every day.

HEY!!! What are you talking about Paula? I’m a quiet person if you forgot! Who are you calling talkative? HUH! By the way, you get the smileys by doing this : and this ). I put a space between them so you could see. There are lots of others, just ask molly. He-he.

  9. Catherine M. Says:

#3 Well we wouldn’t go to prisons but we could do other small things (of which I have no idea what they are but anyway) Maybe just praying for the people at the prison. We could ask for the names of the people there.

We could do a bible study, maybe take turns leading it or just go through the whole bible together. (maybe somthing like SPOOF if you went to it)

As for fasting there are so many different ways to fast that it could be a little hard to choose. One way that I did it once was with my whole family. We ate fruits and vegetables for breakfast and lunch but my mom made supper for the kids. The reason I’m going on and on is that (as I wrote before) There are so many ways to fast that it could be hard to choose. You could fast somthing else like TV, or books (except maybe the bible) it is a little overwhelming to think about for me.
